    About this tool

    A rotating blade for the long cuts a box cutter makes a mess of

    Our electric scissors are a palm-sized cutter with a round blade that spins at up to 295 rpm, four speed steps from 215, and an LED screen that shows the speed and the charge. It is for the cuts that go on for yards: breaking down a stack of delivery boxes, trimming carpet to a wall, cutting fabric, felt or vinyl off a roll. It is rated for cardboard, felt and leather up to a quarter inch, carpet to an eighth and thin metal sheet to 1/50 inch, with one and a half to two hours of cutting on a charge.

    It charges from a USB-C cable like a phone, so there is no proprietary charger to lose, and the blade swaps without tools, and two come in the box. A dual-action safety switch means a knock in a drawer does not start it. Keep it on cardboard, cloth and soft sheet goods: it is not a tin snip and not a saw.

    Before you start

    The lithium batteries in this kit want the charger they came with, a dry and cool shelf, charging above freezing and no afternoon in a hot car. Take a battery that swells, smells or gets hot out of service and recycle it; do not put it in the trash.
