    About this tool

A sander on a pole with the dust drawn off at the head

Our drywall sander is a 1000 W corded machine for the part of a renovation everyone dreads: sanding joint compound on walls and ceilings. The head pivots through 360 degrees and sits on a telescoping aluminum pole that runs from 4.9 to 6.2 feet, so a ceiling is reached from the floor, and a 120 degree swing on the extension gets into corners. Nine speed settings run from 800 to 2,100 rpm and show on a digital display, and two layers of LEDs under the head light the wall you are sanding.

Dust is the whole argument for the machine. A 6.5 foot hose runs from the head to the dust bag or, through one of three adapters, to a shop vacuum, so the fine compound dust is drawn off where it is made. The bag holds thirty sheets of sandpaper, four each of 80, 100, 120, 150, 180 and 240 grit plus six non-porous sheets, a hex wrench, two spare carbon brushes, and a pair of goggles, earplugs and a mask. The replacement discs on the same shelf keep it going.

    • Nine speeds, 800 to 2,100 rpm

Slow for a skim coat you want to keep, fast for a ridge of compound, and the display shows the number.

    • 360° head on a 4.9 to 6.2 foot pole

A ceiling from the floor, a wall from a stand, corners through the 120 degree swing on the extension.

    • Hose to a bag or a vacuum

Dust leaves at the head through a 6.5 foot hose, and three adapters fit the hose to a shop vacuum.

    Before you start

Drywall dust is fine and carries talc, mica, gypsum and silica. NIOSH measured sanders at up to ten times the OSHA limit for total dust; run the hose to a vacuum or the bag, wear the goggles and the mask, and keep the room ventilated.

About the Bluebow Drywall Sander with Dust Collection

Can you connect the Bluebow drywall sander to a shop vacuum?

Yes, through one of the three hose adapters in the bag; the 6.5 foot hose otherwise runs to the dust bag.
